SUP KIDS. 2009, so far, has been a good year for music, I think. Currently been putting Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion on loop. Here are some awesome tracks from that awesome album:
The new Franz Ferdinand album is also pretty good, though I think I might have to give it a closer listen before I say anything else.
Something I also have been putting on loop is Mark Mothersbaugh's score for Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, aptly titled "Nick & Norah's Theme." I have uploaded it for your pleasure and it can be found here: Mark Mothersbaugh: Nick & Norah's Theme. Someone's been hailing it as Motherbaugh's greatest work since "Let Me Tell You About My Boat," off the Zissou soundtrack. I think that's a pretty good description.
Additionally, though it's not really a 2009 release, the rest of the film's soundtrack is awesome. I'm probably going to be using a few tracks off it for future mixes (I don't know; I just have a feeling. And yes, there is going to be a future for this blog, ha!), an obvious choice would be Vampire Weekend's "Ottoman," which was written especially for the movie.
